Archipelago: 50+Mile, 6000+Feet Climb, Mountain Bike Ride for SDMBA
This Mountain Bike Ride Benefits the San Diego Mountain Bike Association. This unique ride connects many of the Open Space Parks in San Diego County and links them in a single route, taking you across San Diego County, on mostly dirt trails, with rarely having to cross a street. The Archipelago Ride is a 50+ Mile; 6000+ feet of climbing event that highlights the importance of Urban Trails. The Archipelago was the the brainchild of local trail legend Rich Julian. Over 13 years ago He enlisted Myself and 12 other riders on the very first Archipelago. Now this ride raises funds for SDMBA, that continues to keep Rich's vision of a Trans-San Diego Trail that would unite the "islands" of open spaces into A Trail Archipelago. Today I ride clean-up, with a VersaMule Modular Load Harness on my back for 50+ miles, picking up trash along the way.
