Fitness.

Though the VersaMule™ can handle most any load the limiting factor will always be the Individual User: One’s Strength, Endurance, Flexibility, Agility and even Footwear must be honestly assessed before attempting to use this product with heavy loads.

Traction Control.

Proper Footwear with sufficient tread is a must. Hiking poles or a stick will add valuable traction and stability when navigating heavy loads on steep, or slippery terrain.

Adjust Height/ Width.

The VersaMule™  comes pre-adjusted in the medium height and shoulder width, but can be adjusted: Different Shoulder Widths can be accommodated by making the Upper Shoulder anchor points wider or more narrow by unwinding the retention rings on the top bar and removing and replacing the clevis pins at another location. Adjust the frame height to accommodate taller and shorter people by unwinding the retention rings running thru the frame tubes and then telescopically slide the frame UP or Down, making sure to align the holes properly to achieve the desired frame length and then replace the clevis pins/washer/retention rings.

Start Gradual.

When first using a VersaMule™  begin with a small light load and slowly  progress to larger heavier loads as you are able to. Never attempt to carry a load you can’t lift with your arms, periodically lift your container while loading it to make sure it is light enough to carry. Never assume another person can lift a heavy load just by looking at them without first using the VersaMule™  with lighter loads.

Lift

Heavy Loads should get on your back by first lifting the container, on top of a tailgate, rock, tree stump, picnic table or an upside down trashcan, then insert the VersaMule™ through the containers handle. Make sure to compensate for the weight of the Load by leaning forward enough to avoid tipping backwards at first.

Swing

Lighter Loads can easily be swung around your body onto your back from the Load Horn. Then holding the VersaMule™  Load Horn until each of your arms can go through the V-Shoulder straps, one by one.

Shoulder Straps

Once the VersaMule™  is on your back tighten the Right and Left Lower Shoulder Straps (Green Tag Ends), followed by the Right and Left Upper Shoulder Straps. (Brown Tag Ends)

Hip Belt

Finally fasten the Hip Belt so that It’s snug but not too tight. (Follow steps 4-10 in reverse order to take the VersaMule™  off.)  Remember that leaning forward to tie your shoe, etc. could inadvertently Dump your Load Prematurely.

Dumping

Loads

Dumping loads - A hardhat when using the dumping feature is strongly advised- Sometimes its appropriate and easier to empty the contents of a container by dumping the load. With the Load Straps Fastened, and the  Hip Belt Fastened, make sure the area in front of you is clear . Then with your hands leaning on your knees, simply bend down with your hips and knees while maintaining an even center and the load will travel over your head and land in front of you.
